Replacing the Cab Steps

I just got two Steps from Sac Vintage Ford and cannot find any info searching the web.

Do I need to weld a “Keep it Square Bar” across the door opening before I cut the old step out?

any links, pictures or advice would be appreciated.

I can't imagine it would hurt. Just takes a few minutes to weld one in and then a few few more to grind it off. So I say 'yes' to your question. I still have one to do on my passenger side, so want your pictures,

I didn't weld one in mine and I think it was fine. I removed the door, so I had to realign that anyway. I don't think it ended up twisted at all, but I also left the rocker in place- not sure if you're doing that. I agree, couldn't hurt.

Post pics of your progress please. I also have to do my steps and sills and will be welding in a brace. Damn sloppy Jalopie! :P

That's on my todo list as well. I need to measure and brace because that whole area is rusted out. New step, riser & rocker, plus fab a new front body mount. Wish I had a usable garage.
