Column vs Dash key. Pros and Cons?

I used a column from a 1989 S10 and cut the gear shift **** out and used bondo to fill the hole. Sanded it down even and you cannot tell it ever had a gear shift lever in the column. Best if you could find a Blazer or S10 with a floor shift at a junk yard. It would have a column without any thing to deal with. If you used an EZ wiring harnes it is very easy to wire lights, turn signals and ignition switch with this column. Several other year columns would be the same. It is also very easy to replace the lock cylinder and it is abot 10-15 dollars. I paid 50 dollars for mine with the steering wheel on it.
