E4OD od light blinking

Alright finally scanned the beast.

Continuous codes:
172 ego not switching
Small exhaust leak.
542 Fuel pump open Eca to ground.
If I switch to the front tank it pegs past full does not cycle on realy is good. Bad Fdm or sender or both?
628 excessive torque converter clutch slippage.
Just out of the blue? 169,000 miles.
638 trans Oil temp low signal low circuit ground.
I have no idea?? The truck wasnt warmed up.
657 trans over temp. Im assuming this is because of the tcc slippage.

I sure expected you would get a code 452 but without it the VSS input may be OK.
The 638 is normal for a cold transmission.
Not sure on an E4OD how you would get the 628 as the PCM would have to use the VSS input from the PSOM to know the clutch was slipping. There are no shaft sensors on the E4OD like on the 4R70W. Maybe you do have a bad VSS.
The 542 will happen with a bad fuel pump or tripped fuel shut off switch or if you ground pin #6 of the self-test plug to test the fuel system.

Thanks sub. I think this weekend ill crawl underneath her and disconnect some stuff and clean the connections. Ill pull the vss and clean it. Ill do a trans service and drain the torque converter and refill.
The tc has to be spun around and a bolt taken out to drain right?
How do you fill it back up? I want to check and make sure the filter is in place as well. Any other recomendations?

I crawled under her tonight and found out I have a pinion seal leak and a leak coming from the vss. Looks like some cleaning and sealing this weekend

Dave, let me know if you need any manuals on repairing, my brother is in vocational auto shop at San G and I have access to Pro Demand from Mitchell as well as Mitchell Vintage. That's where I got the diagram on the other HVAC post.

See if you can get the rebuild info for a 97 e4od. I already have the update manual i need the tear down and reassembly manual. I think im going to rebuild my trans myself.
