Higher mileage V10

Good evening all! I have a friend that has a 2008 F350 CC short box with a V10 that he is trying to sell. The truck has 179,000 miles but appears to have been well taken care of. The prior owner used the truck to deliver car trailers for a business and that is why there a a lot of miles on the truck but they have been hwy miles. I am new to Ford but I am contemplating buying the truck from him. I guess I was mainly wondering what the longevity of the V10 is and would a guy have much to worry about with those miles? Obviously the truck even with the miles on it isn't cheap so I just was wondering if this is too many miles and what to look for in a higher mileage truck? Thanks for your help and information.

You may want to head on over to https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...their-v10.html
There are some trucks over there with over 200,000. Mine has 107,000 and we are replacing front end essentially. Has major steering/linkage problems. Hoping she will be on the road next weekend. We purchased it this way. We are the 3rd owner.

Most of the 3v V-10's can go 300,000 miles with no problems.

Every purchase comes with unknowns. Last summer I purchased my 02 F250 V10 with 180K miles. Because it came with no history records I spent an additional $1500? taking care of the unknowns.

While it'd be a risk, I'd now (chance) driving it across the county.

When I sold my last V10 work truck (I retired) it had 99600 on it, the last time I talked to the guy that bought it had 275000 on it and the motor was still going strong, being a work truck the whole time the rest of it was showing its age.
