So I got my 72 F100 a few months ago from my grandpa. She (was) a garage queen but now she is a daily driver haha. I checked to make sure all the lights worked so I didnt get pulled over and noticed that the reverse lights do not go on when I put her into reverse. Tonight I was parking and noticed that if I push the gear stick towards the engine the lights come on but if I pull it towards me they turn off. Is there a short somewhere in the steering wheel that is causing this? It isn't that big of a deal to just push it in towards the engine when I'm backing up but this could get difficult being I don't have power steering. Just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem. Thanks!
I am thinking the problem is in the lever that moves the neutral safety switch. Ford part number DOTZ7B097B. This lever is attached to the shift tube. Pushing down on the shifter would push the shift tube down a tad. Pokes out of the steering column so it can move the NSS. Check to see if it is bending or loose on the shift tube. I know Bill has posted pics of this lever on previous posts. I see if I can find one and post it here.
Here is a link I found for the Ford manual picture for a Dentside. The 7a247 NSS and the 7B097 lever will look the same as your Bump.

I changed the bulbs and tightened the neutral safety switch and that fixed the problem with them turning on but now the right bulb doesn't work. Any suggestions?
