Title discrepencies

I have a clear Ohio title to my truck and all the vin and frame numbers are good. It is registered in my name so there is no problem with the truck. However the model number on the title says the truck is a K12. Is that a typo, as years ago all the titles were typed by hand, and I don't think the clerk making mininmum wage cared one way or the other. Making a typo is common , but F1 and K12 is very far apart on a typerwriter. What do you all think?

I think it will take an act of God to get it changed. BTDT, I had a motorcycle that was on the title as a 67 but it was (by serial #) clearly a 69, undoubtedly the difference was due to sloppy handwriting a long time ago. I could get no satisfaction from MVD.

There is no MODEL code stamped on the Rating Plate on these trucks, as 1957 was the first year. So where the DMV found K12, could be only be here:

K12 could be the first 3 digits of the Production Number, decodes to the assembly month/day. For 1948, K12 decodes to October (K) 12, 1947.

Uh huh, but your signature says 1948 Ford F1 .. not 1950 Ford F1.

So for a 1950, K12 decodes to October 12, 1949.

EDIT: However, after thinking about it, this may be an OH DMV internal use number for the type of vehicle it is.

I've owned 100's of old cars/trucks, the CA title on some said type/model 110.

The only 110's were 1939/42 Packard's with a flathead 6, I've never owned any. I did own a 1939 Packard Super 8, which is not a 110.

So 110 is just a CA DMV type/model number used for some Passenger Cars.

You are correct, my 48 is now a parts truck and I haven't updated my profile in a couple of years. Thanks for the info. Keep us informed as you always have.

Read post 5 again, I edited in some info. Then consider doing this:

It's so simple a cave man can do it. Contact the OH DMV, ask what K12 refers to.

I wouldn't be surprised if they told you it's for a truck with a 3,500-5,000 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.
