restoring steering hub
The clear part of the steering wheel center hub of my '53 is cracked. Since it is a '53 it is the 50th anniverary hub. So I was wondering if there is some way to fix them.

Any steering wheel from a 53-55 is the same, only the center caps (horn button) are different. 53 anniversary caps are reproduced. As for repairing the clear "dome" center, don't think much can be done.

Left Turn 095: September 8, 1923, USN suffered their worst peacetime disaster when 7 destroyers went on the rocks at Point Honda CA .. also known as the Devil's Jaw.
Squadron of DD's heading south to San Diego, the plan was to turn SSE (Left Turn 095) into the Santa Barbara Channel, but due to dead reckoning navigation, fog and time of night, they turned too soon.
7 piled up on the rocks along the coast, were total losses. 2 additional DD's were able to back off suffering some damage.
Captain Edward Watson, the Squadron Commander, flag in USS Delphy (DD-261), had a civilian friend aboard, wasn't paying attention to navigation, was court martialed and drummed out of the USN
Diving what remains of these wrecks is tricky as it depends on the current and weather, both of which are usually foul.
