aod transmission will not shift
The transmission in my 1986 F150 Custom Van seemed to be slipping in overdrive so I started by changing the fluid. It cured the slipping but now it won't change from second to third . Is it possible for the box to be air locked ? Is there a blead nut ? The Govener on the rear shaft dirty or faulty ? The bands need torque set or something more major ? Any help would be appreciated . . . . .MO

With that model of overdrive transmission, there are not any "bands to adjust". It uses a shift pack mounted on top/side of the tranny. You can have it replaced for about 500.00 bucks or do it yourself easily for about 250-300 bucks. often thes trannys will have a slight leak tat seems to come from the oil pan, but is actually coming from a cracked housing on the shift pack. Be sure to have your fluid exchanged and then change your filter at the same time.
