Most common problems (from memory) are a few torque converter clutch failures on the 09-10 models, and fluid leaks from the main transmission connector.
Have you checked the fluid level? There is a dipstick underneath on the passengers side. Not the handiest to get to, but thats a good place to start.
Check up in the stickies for video links and you'll find one that shows you how to find the dipstick and check the fluid.
I have not contacted my dealer as my truck is out of warranty. The truck is a 2011 F-150. I did get a notice in the mail about a recall on the truck as it might suddenly shift into first gear but Ford has no fix yet. I wonder if this problem is related.
While driving the truck seems to slip out of gear and the speedo drops suddenly and then come back up.
I did have an issue while driving when the truck slammed into second and shut the truck down.

Have you spoken with your dealer about the transmission slipping? Fill me in on some details, such year and mileage; I'll see how I can best assist.
