I'm buying a 95 powerstroke with 170k on her to put in my 97 f350. While I've got the motor out is there any o rings or seals I should replace. I planned on gutting the pedestal and replacing those orings. I'm going to do a 4" turbo back exhaust too. Anything else preventive I should plan on?
Good time to smash the firewall in to make room for the new DP. If your not doing bellow up pipes then replace the donuts on the collector for the up pipes. If you have a oil leak at the dipstick hole in the oil pan, great time to fix that.
the firewall has to be moved back for a 3" it has to be moved back MUCH more to get a 4" to fit. I would find the money to do the Up Pipes now if i were you, i bought the bellows and flanges and used my old ones to make bellowed up pipes for mine rather than buying the pre made ones. if you put the engine in there an all and they end up leaking (and without bellows and flanges its a matter of when not if they leak) you will hate yourself having to do that job in the truck when you had them staring you in the face on the engine stand. I will say i saved a bunch of money by making them myself but it was time consuming and a headache finding the flanges and making precise measurements and cuts to install the bellows and mocking everything up and tack welding and then welding the flanges without warping them and not melting through the thin pipe material.... its much easier just to buy them from riffraff haha
