Up pipe leak

I've had a slight leak for a while now that seems to be getting worse lately. I already have all the parts to replace the gaskets and the O-rings in the turbo, but I can still build good boost (though not quite as good as it used to be) so I'm wondering if I should just hold out or go ahead and dive in... thoughts?

Go for it! As you said it's not getting any better. Are you going to reuse the stock uppipes and just replace the donuts? No bellowed uppipes?

It may buy you a little time, changing the donuts. If you plan on doing the bellowed up pipes later, this will give you good experience on taking the turbo and up pipes off.

That's why I asked. If you can hold out for the bellowed uppipes, I'd wait then and do it all at once.

I would only want to dig into this project once, I'd do the bellowed and be done with it.

STFU soldier boy!

Roland and Rick- I don't have the option of bellowed pipes on with my stock turbo, the late model bellows won't fit with my early bird turbo and I can't swing a turbo conversion right now.

You may want to consider replacing the pipes with new ones. I haven't priced them out though. My old gaskets had worn grooves into the pipes. I used over sized gaskets with lots of anti-seize but they are leaking very few miles later ( i just did this last winter). I suspect the grooves ate up the new gaskets. Considering this, and what everyone else says about to durability the repair, and you don't have the option of doing the bellows easily/cheaply, you'll get longer life out of it esp if yours are grooved up.

New pipes aren't in the budget right now, I'll have to cross my fingers and hope mine aren't hosed.

Are you sure they aren't too expensive Chase?

I know Brad (Beanhead) fixed his uppipes for less than a hundred bux if memory serves right

Honestly, my opinion is hold off if it isn't that bad. If it was so bad you couldn't build any boost then it would be worth patching up. Mine aren't that bad again (yet), but I can hear it and smell a little when the EBPV is closed in the AM. I won't replace the gaskets again without either new pipes or bellowed pipes, not worth the trouble.

I don't know for sure, but I think new pipes are $200-300.
