I needed to take 5th wheel camper to storage. I got click, click, click in the garage after sitting for a few days... Grabbed meter, Hit the key and it started. dang it.. the whole rest of the day it started fine. We stopped at a lot of places.. But, it is talking, I need to listen.
what to do, I removed starter and took apart. Everything looks fine. Brushes, bearings, Things still greased.. only has 120K miles.
One thing to note. Upon trying to locate the proper socket i discovered the small wire on the solenoid wasn't that tight. Almost not so, that i thought i had the wrong socket. Could be it,, might not.. Can i just replace the solenoid with one that is good quality? This is my baby and i don't want to give up factory stuff.. don't seem solenoid comes apart to clean contacts, crimped.
Normally i just replace starters, I just go to autoparts store and get a reman. don't want to do that with my baby. I will fix it if i can. But don't have a lot of experience with them... And don't want some pc of crap. I want to see what you guys think first. It isn't rocket science, i know, just wondering and in no hurry

That's exactly what I wanted to hear from you!
Isn't it funny that another with less willingness to tackle the unknown would have spent the bucks, maybe ended up with a far-lesser product, and would have learned NOTHING in the process?
