Bought my boy a 89 bronco 2 with the 2.9 efi decided to do the tune-up thing plugs wires cap and rotor just basic stuff got it all back together with the correct wires to the correct places, at least I think I did I have went over the wiring diagrams and they seem to match. The engine turns over but it will not start. I'm at a loss need y'all's help.
Yes wires connected, actually took it apart twice to make sure rotor was sitting properly, it was and had moved into new position from trying to start it. I had the battery unhooked and some of the wiring harness on the pass side, by doing that does something need to be reset....I am thinking fuel system or would a fuse have blown by doing what I done?
If your 89 is the same as my 87 the fuel pump wiring & relay is on the passenger side. When you turn the key 1 click the check engine light should come on & the fuel pump -which is in the tank- should run for 2 seconds. Does it?
Does your wiring diagram show a fuse or fuse link powering the pump relay?
On my 87 the positive battery cable is wired to the starter relay & the fuel pump relay is about a foot further back. The relay should click each time the key is turned 1 click.
First off thanks for all the help, thought I would let y'all know what the problem is...well I done everything correct by putting it all together by the diagrams and rotor and all but what I did not know was a previous owner put a new distributor in and it was put in wrong so now my firing order at the cap is my number one fires about where the number six is and so on. So thanks for all the help guys we are gonna leave it the way it is cause it runs great, of course I will be going to the electrical forums to find out why the brake lights are intermittent thanks again.
