Broken rear window lock?

Hey Guys... My rear window lock on my F350 broke, and the dealer said it comes only as part of the window??? I currently have the window wedged shut so nobody can get in, but I would like to fix it properly... Anybody know where I can get this piece in the aftermarket maybe??? or have a ford part number???

Thanks guys!
Bob

The actual lock broke? or did it just come off the window. Mine came off the window and I took it to an auto glass shop and the glued it on. Now, it it actually broke, you might be able to call an auto glass shop and they can replace that middle window. I had mine done for 50$, since I locked my keys in the truck and saw no other way in at the time.

Hmmm...that's NOT what the Ford Truck Parts Catalog sez....

The actual Ford part number is:

F81Z2540860AA .. Back Glass Latch-Sliding Rear Window

Fits: 1999/2007 F250/550 Super Duty w/sliding back glass.

MSRP: $39.05 / ftepartsguy.com price: $28.12

FTE sponsor: ftepartsguy: Ed Olson @ Parr Ford, in Bremerton WA.

What the parts catalog does say is this:

"If bonded portion is removed from the glass, the complete center window must be purchased."

Bonded portion: I guess Ford never heard of using epoxy!

According to my dealer that piece does not include the part that glues to the window??? The PO had the lock fall off, then he lost it.... So I need the latch and the piece that glues to the window as well

The piece that's bonded to the glass does not come with the latch itself (F81Z2540860AA).

Parts catalog sez you have to buy the center glass to get it...if it's come off.

To me, if its come off and you still have it, it can be put back on. Autoglass shops can do this, I would think two-stage epoxy would also do the trick.

Sorry, being retired, I no longer have the parts handy to look at one.

There's no truck like y'all's here, either.

There are other fixes...mebbe.

1973/89's had a two piece plastic (of course) latch (it broke if you looked at it!), it's still supplied by Ford.

Autoparts stores sell a locking device for vent windows on the older stuff...mebbe one of those would work.

I realize you need the part that bonds to the glass. Wish I could help, but...

You know of course that Ford bonded that latch piece to the glass originally.

By the parts catalog description and what it sez...it appears that part was made on the glass...that ain't so.

If Ford bonded it, so can someone else.

I have a stick in there too... Works good

I have the glue to bond rear view mirror pieces back to windshields, and would assume that stuff would work great.... just need to locate the piece that goes onto the glass....

MR Bob, I had the shop do some checking and they came up with the same part number the Numberdummy did. F81Z-2540860-AA for $ 39.05. I also had them check are stock to see if they had some used parts, and they do.
So take a look at the pick to see if you have a OEM slider, and let me know if the latch looks like this. I can also get you the black metal rail that is attached to the fixed panel that the latch locks to.
