drive shaft question

Hello, I am fairly new to the site and am building a 1941 ford 1/2 ton truck, planning on running a 8.8 3.73 limited slip out of a 93 exploder and when i pulled the rear end out it had a aluminum drive shaft, my thought or question is has anyone used the aluminum drive shaft? I helped a friend put one in his GT mustang as a performance upgrade and figured why not use this one. Not going to be a high HP build, just a 302 mild cam and plan on building it for a cruiser more than a hotrod.

Well they did use some factory aluminum drive shafts but they had a balancer on them like a crankshaft dampner has and they were bad about coming loose. not sure how strong the stock aluminum one is for performance use but the one we put in my friends GT was rated for around 750 HP and was a lot lighter and seem to have the effect as running a lightened flywheel. It did improve his fuel economy according to him but I am not sure it made that much difference. I am planning on running a steel one out of an explorer due to the balancer issue on the aluminum one.Sooner or later I will be able to load some pics of the project.....lol
