Get a rebuilt tranny and go looking at the savage yards for everything else. I think you could have this thing back on the road and together for under $10K. Not bad for a 7.3 with 140k miles.
Actually does seem like a good deal except you never know what else it might need The turbo might have been slowly blowing chunks in the days leading up to the accident or the frame might be tweaked but not noticeable. Not saying I wouldn't hit that, just I would be cautious
Seems pretty good to me too. I do wonder what kind of accident it had (just ran over something large or what) to tear up the undercarrige with so little damage on top.
Have to examine the rest of the underside pretty close.
Was first upset that a low miles 7.3 was for sale in NJ as I just bought my 03 V10 Limited with 146k miles here and would have jumped on a diesel for the right price. After reading of the mechanical, interior and possible structural issues I think I got a pretty good deal on mine for $7700!
