Help determining transmission year and type
Hello all-Recently purchased a 75 F100 short bed for a weekend cruiser. Based on the VIN # decoder I did online, the truck came with a 390. It currently has a 351m in it. I was told the engine was rebuilt somewhat recently. I am unsure about the trans though. It is automatic, and I am assuming it is a C6. I think I read on here that the trans pan kinda looks like the State of New Mexico, which mine does as well. The dipstick has been cut right about where it says "Do Not Fill". The part number on the dipstick is EOAP-74020-DA. Firstly, I would like to replace the dipstick so that I can properly check the fluid level. Also, will this help in tell me where the trans came out of? Also, I would like to change the filter, gasket, and fluid, but am unsure which parts to purchase or how much fluid to put in there. Can anyone help shed any light on this, or point me in the right direction. When I do a part # search on the dipstick, I think it came back as a early 80's Crown Vic. Any help on this is greatly appreciated!

That engineering number is for a 80s vehicle (E0). It should be a C6. Count the number of bolts in the pan, 17=C6.
The simplest solution to your dipstick problem is to find a truck with a 351M-400/C6 combo and get the complete dipstick and tube. They're easy to pull. One bolt hold them to the bellhousing, the tube itself just presses in the transmission case and is sealed with an o-ring.
