86 F150 Rear Spring Alignment

86 F150 Rear Spring Alignment
On my son in laws 86, I noticed that the bottom spring is not aligned with the upper springs, I would say that it has moved around 1 inch out of alignment. How do you get that spring back to where it belongs? I was thinking that I could raise the body up, support it on the frame, have the wheels fully suspended and then use a block and sledge to hammer it back to its correct position. What do you think?

If you do all you said and then loosen the nuts some you won't have to hammer very hard. But, many of these trucks are running around that way and yours may go back pretty quickly. However, maybe not if you get it straightened up and tighten it down.

Thank you, It seems like there should be some type of clamps that you could put on them to keep them aligned.
