New here to these forums. Truck was running perfectly until the other day started it up and drove to get lunch. After it wouldn't start up. Had my buddy try to jump it and it wanted to turn over once, but didn't. After that it got worse and worse. The seatbelt warning siren got dimmer, we got the battery tested and it's full voltage good battery. Later on that day we started it up and drove it back to my dorms(5min). Then tried to start it up today and it doesnt want to turn over.... Interior dome light still turns on when door is open, headlights will only go on sometimes and ill turn the key it will click then stop.... After that, I turn the key and there's no sound at all.
I tried to trace the wires and see if anything is loose or whatnot but couldn't find anything yet. Got an alternator from the parts store but not sure if I should bother installing it because I was told that the alternator wouldn't prevent the truck from starting
The alternator won't make any difference since the battery is charged. You probably have a bad connection. First place to look is the battery connections and the cables themselves. Both cables, the positive and the negative. And, the connection of the positive cable to the solenoid and the negative cable to the engine and to the frame. Somewhere you have a bad connection so you need to find it.
