Hi,
Not sure whether this is from 86 and earlier, or 87 and later. It's a tailgate that came with my '65 F250. It doesn't really fit my truck and I'm going to try and find a better match. In the meantime, I have a nice, rust-free, barely used tailgate.
Can you help me ID the exact year, or year range? It says "Electronic Fuel Injection" on the little badge, which I understand was first introduced on some trucks in '85 but not across the line until later. Thus my confusion on whether to post this in the '87-'96 forum or the earlier one...
When I ordered my '85 F-250 new in the fall of '84 I could have ordered it with a fuel injected 302, so I know for a fact that fuel injection was available on at least some '85 and '86 trucks.
From the pic I'd say the tailgate looks a lot like the one from my '85, so it wouldn't surprise me if it was from an 85 - '86. But I'm not an expert on the changes over the years either.
%100 that is a 80-86 tailgate, likely late in that year range with the EFI badge. I'd ask for more details in the 80-86 section here and put it up for sale, those suckers are getting hard to come by.
Leo,
That's premium quality Ohio baling twine, and I will send it to you directly if you like. Of course, for premium twine, there is a premium price, but I will trade you the twine for a '65 tailgate in good condition, even swap!
I certainly don't doubt that premium twine is worth a tailgate! But last time I paid a premium price I received standard grade, hobby farm twine. Call me a skeptic but I will have to pass on your generous offer.
Good luck on your trade. I've seen some of those older tailgates as part of a bench seat for a yard or man cave.
