Okay... so I understand that it is normal for the driver's door lock to unlock when using the driver's power lock button on the driver's door panel to lock all the doors, but surely someone must have found a way to defeat this behaviour and have all the doors remain locked. I know that you can simply manually depress the driver's lock subsequent to hitting the power lock, or you can use the external keypad, or the transmitter, but the door panel switch seems to be the handiest, and I'd like it to work in this fashion. I have experienced at least a half dozen occasions where the driver's door remained locked after hitting the power lock button, but I have yet to discover what the special circumstances are that precipitated this behaviour. I thought it might have something to do with weight being present/absent from the driver's seat or some such thing, but I can't replicate it. For what it's worth, I've also disabled the key in ignition alarm, and seat belt alarm. Any ideas?
The button on the driver's door locks and unlocks ALL the doors at the same time. There isn't any way to program it to do otherwise. If you just want to open the driver's door from the inside and leave the other doors locked just use the inside door handle on the driver's door.
If the door isn't unlocking when you use the button you may have an intermittent problem with the door lock solenoid.
Or is there something I'm missing in your question?
I would like the buttons on all 4 doors to remain down when I hit the lock button. Currently when I shut off the truck, remove my key, open the drivers door, and hit the power lock on the drivers door panel, all 4 door lock buttons go to the lock position, but the driver's door subsequently unlocks a second later - automagically. I'd very much like to disable this automatic unlocking of the drivers door.
I knew I was missing something in your description.
The situation that you have described is EXACTLY what should happen if you try to lock your truck with the keys still in the ignition. It keeps you from locking your keys in the truck, but should you want to lock the doors with the keys in and/or engine running (cold weather warmup, etc.) you can lock the doors from the remote or from the door mounted keypad.
My guess is that whatever method you used to disable the key-in-ignition alarm has caused the system to think that the key is ALWAYS in the ignition. As a test, undo whatever you did to disable the alarm and see if the door locks work properly.
My door lock operation was exactly the same as before I made the modification to disable the key in ignition chime (I put a piece of tape under the electrical connector in the ignition cylinder). At any rate, this mod shouldn't affect the door lock operation since it fools the computer into thinking there is no key in the ignition.
