My driver door lock was sticking when I hit the button on the remote. I usually had to press the button a few times and it would unlock. Well, yesterday I put the key in the door and unlocked it. I heard something break and now my door will NOT lock at all. Inside I can't press the **** down and with the key in the door,,it just goes left and right (no lock/unlock).
How Hard is it to take the door panel off? ANy suggestions on what the problem is??
I took the door panel off. There is a loodr rod that appears to attach to the door lock (inside of the part where the key goes). How do I reattach the rod?
My best suggesttion would be to take a few digital photos of what you have to the parts department at the dealer and compare versus an exploded few on their parts screen. I suspect you will find that there is a broken clip of some kind and the remnants of it are sitting somewhere in the bottom of your door. Conversely, you can go to the dealer and ask them to print you the exploded view of the door lock and associated linkage and use that to compare against what you have there now. Another option would be to remove the door laock and take it down there.
You might also check with a locksmith to see if they fix auto door lock linkage. They may not, but you may be surprised. Check with two or three. Good luck with it.
