I'm new here..having problems with my 02 PSD had the tranny rebuilt last year and a few weeks ago I heard a pop while starting from a dead stop and the truck went to neutral... The transfer case is good had it checked out. The tranny shop told me that the tq had broken something inside it..will this problem effect the rest of the tranny?
Only opening it up and disassembling it will tell.
Question: Did you or a previous owner have it rebuilt? With the few exception of a case ring retaining groove and a pressure valve sleeve in the Valve Body, maybe some electrical parameters in programming, implemented in the 99.5 model year, the 4R100 is a proven unit.
I find it difficult that "Torque" caused a failure if you're not squerling around with an outrageous tune and performing maintenance.
Thanks tom for your input! I totally agree, the transmission shop owner told me that the tq was toast an he's never seen one do that before.who knows right?! Truck is stock other than turbo exhaust and ts chip I've had it rebuilt once before a few years back but it only lasted a little while..he said he replaced the transmission pump tq valve body etc

On one of my trucks I bought a big money billet torque converter for my rebuild. It was great until I was pulling an over loaded dump trailer and got stuck in the sand. I destroyed the tc. Too much heat melted it.
