where can i find part and what not. all the sites i go to are for powerstoke. i dont have a powerstroke. i dont want a turbo. i want torque and power with the raw sound of 445 c.u in of motor exiting my pipes. thanks in advance
when talking idi diesels.those two statements are contradictory.
a turbo kit is the bare minimum starting point for performance gain with this engine.nothing else will compare dollar for dollar.
i kno thats a contradictory commont. on average what would it cost for a pretty good turbo set up, cam, head studs, exaust, and god know whatever else. my end goal is to be around 450hp, and 650-700trq. or should i cut my loss and just buy a powerstroke

i wouldn't waste my time or money on the old idi platform if i wanted more power than a 2015 6.7l (440 hp) engine provides.id move on.
my 200-225 hp banks/intercooled engines provide me with what i need.with 45 mph speed limit zones and no "real" towing weight (just heavy hauling) it's very easy to be content with a couple hundred ponies and with my main focal being on = low overhead it can't be beat.nothing can touch the idi diesel for this...save for perhaps the 300-6 f350 trucks.

I get quite the correspondence from people wanting IDI's at this level, and usually my answer is this.... If you haven't felt an IDI at the 300whp level, you have no business wanting one at the 450whp level.... An IDI at the 250whp level has more power than you will know what to do with if you are working it, anything else is for fun. Our trucks are old and light, they aren't 8K like the newer trucks. The current level of IDI performance is right about the 400whp level, and if you want more, you need to read read read, and accept the sort of risk you are putting into things... You have to remember, IDI's at 400whp are a pretty new thing, and there is a lot of detail still being uncovered. If you are even thinking about another platform in order to get numbers, I can tell you a 450whp IDI is not for you. 450whp IDI's are for guys who are willing to go a bit further so they can say they have a 450whp IDI, not because they just want 450whp.
^ what he said. I recently installed a turbo on mine. If you haven't experienced the difference of n/a versus turbo, stop talking right now and find and install a turbo. You will think it's a whole different truck.
