Hey I pulled the cab off my 1984 2 wheel drive f150, and was wondering if I should put new cab mount bushings on it. The ads all say that it will give me a smoother ride, and I was wondering if any of you had any experience with these. Thanks.
I haven't done it - yet. But I do have new poly bushings to go on when the truck goes back together. However, I'm not expecting a smoother ride as poly is somewhat stiffer than rubber. Anyway, do a search on here for new cab mounts or new can bushings - I'm pretty sure several have done it and reported the results.
Having said that, you need to look your bushings and mounts over closely. Many on here have reported significant rust in the bushings and some in the mounts. If you have that then this is the time to repair it. My bushings were rusted, although still serviceable, so replacing them wasn't imperative.
Havent done them on my '82, never been done as far as I know but I been thinking of doing them to see if it will give me a hair more clearance between my tire and fender so if I hit a fairly decent bump at 40 mph it doesnt cause my tire to scrape the inside of the front fender.
So I couldnt vouch for if they would improve ride or not as I have yet to do this.
