So the slave on my 96 died, put a new one in. Filled it with fluid and had to remove the bleed screw to get to piston pushed in enough to put it in place. Was trying to bleed it as per instructions, pumped pedal by hand as it still won't come back up and released the bleed screw. Spit fluid out and repeated about ten time but still no pressure on pedal and just spits fluid out. Wonder what I still need to do to make it actually work.
keep bleeding the clutch is a pain to bleed. press and hold. release count to 10 repeat. build up pressure bleed. repeat. once you get good pedal drive it around then repeat the whole process. i normally do it three time.
Seems like alot have trouble with this. From what i have read, it is best to buy a pre bleed/assembeled one. I cant remember where they get them though, maybe ford.
So I have tried everything I have seen on here, everyone's tricks and still no better have a little pressure but can't shift into even third or fourth so certainly not going to be able to drive around to get the air to work its way out. So looking for a sure fire way to get it better so I can actually drive it. Apparently the is air somewhere and 4 days of sittings, sitting inclined, up per clutch 20 times 200 times doesn't make a difference.
Would really love some help, getting frustrated and need to use the truck. Thanks for any help you can offer.
I haven't but would it give me an accurate measurement without being able to depress all the way with the clutch pedal or do I need to do it differently?
Pedal moves fully but is not compressing enough because of air in the system won't push fork
Enough, or is that what you are going for, to see how much it is currently compressing it?
Well just an FYI, I detattched the slave cylinder from the tranny case and hand pumped it a few times tilted. It shifts into all the gears now, though have to pumps some to get into 1st and reverse.
From the sounds of it from others on here, that should hopefully work itself out after a week of driving around. Sound about right. Measure fork travel and was up to .5 inch so that was better at least.
The clutch pedal is still pretty soft, nothing like what it was. I am hoping that works itself back to "normal" with some driving??
