So the 5-speed swap is done, but i cannot get the clutch to bleed. I looked around at other posts for a while and tried everything that i could find. I even started it in gear and drove it up and down our mile long washboard driveway. absolutly no fluid has even started down the tub i have just as much in the resivor as when i started 5 hours ago. Everything is new also, the master the slave and the line between them. anybody have any thoughts on what i am doing wrong.
ya, its "Self bleeding" and its retarded. it takes forever pump at a time to get it to fill. bench bleeding will help make it faster cause u can do it quicker by hand.
so i took lazy k's advice and took the master back off and bench bleed it. Have it reinstalled and tried again. I have the smallest amount of pressure, not enough to get it in gear and not even enough to make the pedal come back out. I have cracked the bleeder and fluid will come out. Pumped it a few hundred more times and tightened the bleeder back up with the pedal held down. Still nothing. I does not even look as though any fluid has come out of the resivor. I am thinking that everything coming out of the bleeder is coming from the fluid when i bench bleed the master. Any other ideas i can try i really need this going today.
can you remove the hose from the master cylinder? if so, take it off, pour fluid down there til its fill. then thread it back in and try again.
you might have gotten a bad master cylinder bud.
This has gotten me so pissed off, 10-hours of messing with this and still nothing. I did pull the hose and injected as much fluid as i could with a squirt bottle. There is still the same amount of fluid in the resivor as when i started it is going nowhere. how do you tell if the master or slave is bad, both are brand new.
master cylinder is bad if its not pushing any fluid. if your slave cylinder is bad then there would either be excessive pressure without movement or it would be leaking.
If you are getting good fluid flow when bench bleeding but not when in the truck I would suggest that the pedal push rod is too long. Do you have an adjustable one? If so shorten it about 1/8inch and try it. If a fixed rod then try loosening off the nuts that hold the master cyl to the firewall so that the cyl can come forward about 1/8inch and see if you get more fluid out then.
Thanks for all the help the truck is moving under its own power and has full pedal. This truck drives quite different than my 91 did, this thing has so much more torque with the 4.10's and stock tires rather than 3.55's and oversized tires. My next modifications are taking the lift springs from under the 91 for the front end, roof lights which i just have to mount and then i am also going to put the banks sidewinder on it so i can actuall have a down pipe. I am sure i will be here often with many more beginner questions

I found a very old thread that i had a trick i had not tried. Unhook the plunger from the pedal assembly, Get under the truck and push the clutch fork towards the front of the vehicle very slowly and let out very slowly. The first push pushed fluid up and out of the resivor and rained all over me. On more push, heard no more air, filled the resivor and the pedal was perfect. Wish i would have found that thread yesterday.
