Door sticker axle codes

This is a great site! I have a quick question/suggestion. I see that each year have different axle codes. I spent almost an hour looking for a 3E-code for a 250 SD. (2013)
I was wondering if there could be a sticky to list all of the codes categorized by year and model? (F150, F250) That would be very helpful when I go to look at a truck and read the sticker instead of listening to the dealer trying to sell me heated floor mats and fluid dampened muffler bearings. THANK YOU!

Tech folder has a lot of codes in it.

You can also go here:
Vehicle Lookup

Put your vin it and see your build sheet with the axle info.

2006 and newer F-250 and F-350 SRWs should have a Dana 60 front with a Sterling 10.50 in the rear, F-350 DRWs should have a Dana 80 rear. The data plate on the rear cover will give you the gear ratio.

A lot of public libraries have vehicle specific manufacturer shop manuals for public use. I know mine does and I use them quite often. There will be a complete list of axle, transmission, and engine codes in each shop manual. If I need information like that from my dealer I can get it with a call or visit to the parts counter and don't have to listen to a sales pitch.

Axle code 3E is the Ford's updated flux capacitor for the 1.21 gigawatts needed to run the motor! LOL

Seriously, 3.73 E locking rear diff. You can find this information in your owners manual in your glove box. If you don't have one, visit my Ford Garage. Register you and your vehicle and you will have access to it there. If neither is an option, visit Ford Fleet and find the towing guide for your model year.

BTW, the heated floor mats the dealer I bought from are nice. Decreased my truck payment by 20 bucks a month. Downside is the Fluid muffler bearings were not an option at the time. Kind of bummed out by that.

I want some of those heated floor mats as well!!Got the fluid muffler bearings though.

Must be a north or south of the Mason Dixon line that determines that.
