Question Turbo/intake clamp

I am looking for a clamp that will fit on my 2000 7.3 Ford F250 where the turbo meets the intake spider/H-pipe. Right now there is a standard worm style hose clamp that is not doing very well at sealing the connection. Any help would be appreciated.

Try Clay at Riffraff diesel. He carries about everything.

I have been a customer for Riffraff before and have sent him an email as well. Based on the pictures I am seeing on Google, most have a standard hose worm clamp like I have between the spider and the turbo, but I am not satisfied with the seal it is creating or lack there of. I am just about to install the heavy duty IC boots and figured I would see about upgrading the hose clamp at the same time.

We suggest using the OEM clamp. It is more than sufficient to provide clamping strength for now boost leaks. Over the years we have had to replace intake manifolds that customers have used a t-bolt clamp on and cracked the casting.

I am fairly new to the 7.3 and now realize the one Riffraff posted may in fact be the clamp that is on there. At first glance I thought it was a standard hose style worm clamp, but did not notice the grooves right away. I bought a bunch of stuff from Riffraff a few weeks ago and plan to install them during the Thanksgiving break. Before then I will take a closer look at the clamp and ensure it has the grooves like the one at Riffraff does and not just a Home Depot hose clamp.

The v clamp that Clay posted is the one you want. Should do the trick. Nothing else will work like that one will with a new one check out your boost and MPG gains.

Just got home from a 4 day weekend camping trip with my 8K lb travel trailer in tow behind the 7.3. She is a tough old girl that handles the job very well for being 14 years old. Even through the mountains she does pretty well.

Anyway, while I was waiting for the tanks to drain at the dump station, I popped the hood and had a closer look at the clamp. It is the worm style v-clamp indicated above, but I can see where it has been taken off a time or two and there is at least one spot that is not sealed quite as well as I would like. I am going to order the clamp from Riffraff this week and install it along with the I/C and plenum boots I bought.

Thanks for the information everyone and I hope this post helps another 7.3 newcomer in the future.

You should also consider the o-ring between the turbo and the Y pipe since your ordering the clamp and are concerned about it sealing. Just a thought

Is it oily? What makes you think it's leaking?

When I saw the clamp last week before heading out on our camping trip I thought I found a bit of soot on the backside of the spider right where the turbo and the spider meet. The truck is in my garage now waiting to get a new set of tires, parking brake adjustment, bleed brakes and power steering fluid change.

I bought the truck a few months ago and it was in generally great shape for having 228,000 miles on it. No body rust, no mechanical issues to speak of. I have changed all of the fluids, cleaned it up really well, fixed a few things like the super cab doors not opening and driver door window going up very slowly. I am now in the process of preventative maintenance and replacing parts that I think are going to fail soon or were hard to see failing during the initial inspection I performed or minor issues that I saw that I was not concerned with at the time of purchase.

As I mentioned before, she is a great running truck and I just want to make sure it stays that way.
