finally got motor running ok after head job and re gasket motor. temp running in normal range until i run blower motor in cab for heat or a/c gauge goes full hot when i turn blower off it returns to where it was upper normal range. do'nt know where to start poss bad ground? got me , any help would be great thanks.
i understand from previous threads that if you ground the single pin sensor for gauge that's under exhaust manifold ( i replaced it during ovhl ) when the key is on it will go to full hot position this how you test gauge which leads me to belife that when i turn blower on something is grounding is this anything you guys have run into? don't have good wire diagram to run down, and don't want to start unwrapping harness if i don't have to.any thoughts would be a big help.
That is an odd problem. If it were mine, the first thing I would do is to clean the battery cables and make sure the body ground on the NEG cable is in good shape. Then I would check and clean all the other body/chassis grounds. It might not fix it, but it couldn't hurt!
Sounds like High resistance. Check the signal wire to the square plug on the fenderwheel and ohm it out. Same problem, but mine was actually caused by rust. Seriously, I tinked with the problem for 4 years on my '92, 4.9 and the sender is in the cast iron block. Its just an idea, but, if it doesn't have a clean connection, it will give erroneous reading.
