I have Grundy, and have friends with Hagerty. Both are good in my opinion. State Farm [ have both daily drivers and home with them] could not come close to coverage or price here.
That's exactly my situation and what I found to be true(State Farm for the "regular" vehicles and Hagerty for the F100).
We have State Farm and I have only had one claim in 10 years. While driving my 46 to a glass installer I was rear ended at a traffic light and the 46 was just painted. They said take to to whom ever you want and send us the quote. We are "Snow Birds" so when we travel to AZ we change the insurance coverage and drop the Liability on the vehicle that is stored in the garage in CO and change the coverage on the vehicle in AZ to full coverage. We have been doing this for about 10 years and it works fine and saves money and still keeps the stated values in place. They are real easy to work with and I checked out other Classic Insurance and State Farm Insurance beats their prices.

I'm a little surprised at the positive remarks about State Farm. I had their insurance on all my cars and homes for over 40 years, only 2 small claims during that whole time. I became a little suspicious about how much I was paying in premiums compared to some of my friends with similar coverage with other companies. I found that I could get more coverage for considerably less money with"every" insurance company that I got quotes from.
It appeared that loyal customers just got the big screw the longer they were with them. Needless to say, I left State Farm.
Drew, I had Allstate and found out the same thing when I went shopping for the first time in many many years. My own agent told me she could beat what I was paying, same exact coverage. How could that be??? She claims that policy "packages" or "plans" have to be approved for each state based on current loss experience etc., and you stay in that Plan until YOU request that you be switched out of it. The agent supposedly can't steer you to the newer plan, it has to be customer-requested. In my case, since I'd been on the same plan for quite a while, simply telling them I was leaving for another company allowed her to quote me a Newer Plan, same coverage, for nearly 1/3 of what I would have paid if I'd just kept on the same old plan!! Can you believe I was pissed?!?!?! Whether that's BS or not, I found nearly everyone I got quotes from was close to the same as what the new quote was. But I switched anyway, to let them know how pissed I was.

I always wondered if it was an agent thing since my original agents were good friends of my family and I had known them since I was a teenager. My premiums always seem to be reasonable until my agent retired and a new agent took over. That seems to have been the turning point in my rates. I even switched agents and it got even worse. I tend to think the agent has a lot to do with premiums you pay........ and I may be totally wrong with that assumption.

You may be totally correct. I have only one lady who I'll deal with at my State Farm Agency. They put me with a guy who has done nothing but try to jack up my rates. After a heart to heart with the owner, I'm back with this wonderful lady who always asks, "what did you buy now?" The guy tried to sell me the "hobbiest policy" that clearly states it's for parades, club meetings andcar shows only. I told him I also wanted to drive the truck to the store, work, or maybe to get repaired. He then quoted me something like $800 per year. I told him that works out to over $100 per trip. Haggerty is much cheaper and I can go wherever I want whenever I want.
Pretty much agree with the comments about Hagerty. They wanted to know that I had another vehicle, which didn't have to be insured with them. They wanted a picture of the truck and of the bed, asked how many miles a year I would drive, what value I placed on it, and said it had to be garaged at night. The truck could not be used for commercial purposes, or regular daily commuting. Trips to the doctor, shopping, restaurants, car shows, pleasure, and the like were fine. I told them I might put 2,500 miles a year on it and it was no problem. All this was done on the computer on a Sunday in just a few minutes. I was pleasantly surprised when they emailed me back the next day with a rate 20% of what my regular insurer had quoted. I quickly made use of their road service when I ran out of gas (trusted the gauge) and had a dead battery. I guess they know how much we love our trucks and that we take good care of them.
It's tough for many people to make comparisons about different rates, different coverage and different companies, be careful. I try to read this stuff but my eyes glaze over. Acts of God, earthquakes, insurrection, sewer backups. Hm.
The collector car market is pretty small, but for standard insurance Shop around and if somebody offers you a policy that's a lot cheaper, sometimes agents will try to snipe customers, but the coverage is not the same, if you have to make a claim or are found liable is not the time to discover fine print; get a hold of your current agent and ask them to explain what the deal is.
Seems to me they will either outline what the difference is, and why you might want to pay more, or match the other guys rate, adjust the policy coverage, etc. Or lose your business.
