Classic car insurance

My question isn't specifically about fords but about obtaining classic car insurance. I was hoping you folks might have some experience/advice to share.

I've been wanting to get classic insurance on my '71 F250 for a while but the one requirement I don't meet is the fact that my primary vehicle is a motorcycle (which providers don't actually consider to be a primary vehicle/daily driver).

My question is, is there a way around that? My brother and I share a place and I'm wondering if I can add his vehicle to my policy in order to meet the primary vehicle/daily driver qualification. Does the vehicle have to be under my name or can I insure it as if it's a loner?

Thanks in advance for any input.

Good luck on that. I gave up trying to get classic insurance. I drive mine too many miles...it is not kept in a garage... One company would insure as a classic but I would have to move the rest of my vehicles to them.
Technically, I believe the vehicle has to be under your name/spouses name to be considered your vehicle. Not a shared household vehicle.
I think one way to kind of check this out is to try to get an auto quote from someone like Progressive. Step through the process and at some point it will bring up what vehicles the system sees under your name.

I had a 72 that I insured through AAA a few years ago. It was $325 per year but just insured as a regular vehicle; not a classic. That meant there was no agreed upon value so if it were stolen I'm sure I would have gotten screwd. If there was an accident I'm not sure what the outcome would have been. I'm thinking it might not have been bad. I did find a insurance company that would do it as a daily driver status for my 67 when I get it finished. They said no Mileage limit. But I'm not sure of the other stipulations.

Then there's me in BC where all insurance is a government-operated monopoly. I pay $2,400 a year to insure my '69 that is worth only double that.

Oh, and my '78 Kawasaki KZ1000? They want $3,000 a year for that. What's it worth? $3,000.

Count your blessings.

Hagerty, Grundy. and ACI all state your vehicle must be garaged at all times when at your residence and if you store it else where ....it has to be there when not in use (every night) and you need a written agreement form storage owner. All three limit mileage and you must get an appraisal. You must submit many pictures. Regular insurance is usually six times the amount or more a year.

Exactly. When I see Americans complaining about how they have to pay $1,000 a year, I really wish I was able to complain about that.
