car insurance question

My g/f is living with me and she drives my primary vehicle quite a bit. If I add her as a primary driver, and she gets a lot of tickets, will that affect my insurance? If she gets pulled over and her name isn't on the insurance or registration, can she or i get in trouble? or can she just say she is borrowing the car and as long as registration and insurance are up to date, she will be fine?

Add her as the secondary driver and yes, the insurance will sky rocket.

No so much trouble, a boat load of hassles if they decide to hold her or the car. Though if she gets in an accident while driving, the whole mess falls into your lap including having the insurance revoked and no claims paid to you for medical or comprehesive because she was not claimed.

You might get charged with insurance fraud too, though that is rare.

Depends which state or county she is in driving alone. Some states will impound the car until the speeding fine is paid.

Sounds like it would be cheaper, if you made her get insurance on her license rather then adding her. With insurance on her license she can drive any vehicle and will be insured as long as she is paid up. Let her pay the price for her speeding, not just in tickets.
My ex was like her in that respect. When the 4th insurance company revoked her insurance on her license she figured it wasn't the world being messed up it was her. She was paying 4 times what I paid for insurance and only 6 month policy's. Time goes by fast, money goes even faster when you are a constant speeder.

If she drives like that then yes I would make her pay for her own insurance!
This way it wont cost you more in the long run.

I think i mis typed my 1st post. she doesn't get a lot of tickets,I was saying if she did start getting tickets. she is probably a better driver than me as far as speeding goes to be honest.

if you have a clean driving record and are getting discounts, then you add her to your policy, your rate will go up a little. if she gets tickets or accidents then you will lose your discounts.
at allstate, 1 car one driver, the person gets married and adds the spouse, the rate doesnt change. adding another vehicle it will go up. the girlfriend thing you will get rated on.
primary and secondary drivers doesnt matter, its about the driving record for each individual. if she drives 51% and you drive 49% whatever your rate is wont change if you guys were rated 75% and 25%.

and Unfortunately... The worst thing you can do is hold back information from Insurance companies.

I kinow of someone that drives alone ..without a driver's license.
This a 25 Y/o female that keeps taking chances (driving her boyfriend's car) even after being warning numerous times by me to: "Just get your license and drive legal"

She or him doesn't seem to care that the car could be impounded and stored for 30 days at the owner's (Boyfriend) expense. ($7.50/day)
Plus Tow bill - $150.00
Driving without a license - $3500.00 Fine
Driving without Insurance $3500.00 Fine (One must have a Legal license to be insured)

Don't mess with insurance companies......they are really good at saying NO and stand by that.
