Ok I have been lurking here in the 6.2 forum for about a week now trying to read as much as l could. I'm looking at a 2011 f350 CCLB lariat 4x4 6.2 with 3.73 gears and I will be trading my 2005 6.0 in on it. Truck has 103k on it. I get about 13-15 mpg every day with the truck i have now and 15-17 on the highway and it drops to about 11 pulling for me. I pull a 30 foot travel trailer a few times a year, a 20 foot boat weighing about 3500pounds and we also pull a 30 foot gooseneck hoase trailer weighing in about 11000 loaded. I am use to pulling with a diesel most of the time. Will I be happy with the 6.2? Is it going to kill me on fuel?

Only YOU can answer this!
Probably going to cost you 2-3 MPG, depending a lot on your driving style.

If you are used to the low end grunt and mpg of a diesel..... The answer is no you won't be happy.
Now if you are wanting to get away from the cost associated with a diesel and can accept a little worse mpg and higher rpm.... Then yes you will be happy.
I have a '12 CC 4x4 I get 13-14mpg in the city and 16-17 on the hwy driving 70ish
I have a '28 enclosed trailer that when loaded is just over 9k. Pulling at 70 or so the truck will get 9.5-10mpg....... It's not real heavy but it has a flat front so it's like a big wind sail in the drag department

Yes you will spend more on fuel. If you were towing those weights daily I would push you to a diesel. I towed my 32 foot fiver home and averaged 8.5 @ 60 on the highway. First thing I did when I got home was send a pic to my buddy with a diesel. I love this engine and traded my 7.3 in for it. I think you will be happy but that's just an opinion from a stranger on the internet

I just can't justify the cost right now but if I had the expendable cash I would go buy one!
With that being said I do love my 6.2 it does everything it's supposed to and then some...... Zero issues with it and a mindless maintenance schedule........ I also enjoy not having to worry about it shutting down over an EGT sensor....

Ok revisiting this, trying to decide between a 2008 6.4 crew xlt with 45000 miles, a 2011 6.7 crew lariat with 56k, or this 6.2 lariat crew with 103k. The 6.2 is cheapest then the 6.4 and the 6.7. I can afford all three but dont know which is the best fit. I think the 6.4 will actually get me the worst mileage and the 6.7 the bsst but obviously at a significnt extra cost. Kinda thinking the 6.2 is a good comprimise. But has the highest miles. What ya'll think?
