Okay, long story short, I had an SCT X4 on my truck and had the 65 hp tune on the truck when someone stole my tuner. After talking with Jeremy with XDP, I can't get another one to work on my truck without having the stock program on the truck. I know I can go to the dealership to have it flashed, but the cheapest I can seem to get a quote for is $95. Is there any other way to reset the computer without having to take it to the dealer? I've tried to do some searching but I can't find the answer I've been looking for.
Thieves suck. Not only did they steal your tuner, they stole your factory tune. Odds are good they won't know what to do with it, and even if they do it's not going to work anyway. I may be wrong but I think Ford's IDS system is required to flash the PCM. I don't know of any aftermarket systems that can do it. I have seen IDS -or at least accessories for it- on eBay, I guess a local shop could have one but even then I don't know if Ford will allow them to "subscribe" to the latest software. May be worth a few phone calls, but I'm afraid the thieves got you worse than they know.
It's possible to reset the PCM but it's not the same as reflashing it with different software.
PHP might be an option but your going to have to talk to them.
Then you may have to send the PCM in for them to play with.
The clone IDS units don't seem to be able to flash the system
back to stock. May have something to do with the fact that they
(at least the one I got) come with any strategies files on the disk
that comes with them (hacked Ver of the IDS).
Anyway you learned the hard way to make and keep backups of
you strategy when you load a tune. If all they want is $95 to do
a re-flash that is getting off easy.
BTW I can still get the VCM2 and IDS package if you want/need. Just PM me.
What tuner did you have? If you replace it ask the person
that is writing your tunes to send you a "How To" instructions
on making a backup. With mine it gives you that option to
make a backup in the tools that are on the computer that I loaded
the new tune from. Look for words like File Export and Stock Tune Backup in any drop down tools in the
tool that you use to update the tune files on the tuner.
The SCT had a software package for you computer that
would allow you to make a backup. That is what I use
to load new tunes into mine and backup the stock one.
I will. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't some free way of doing it before I dropped the money. I appreciate all the help here from everybody. I swear I learn something every time I'm on here.

Do you have the serial number from the old tuner? I wonder if SCT can flag that in their system if it comes in to be unlocked?
