was driving the truck home from work and all of a sudden it just shut off like the batteries died, then tried to start it and it did not want to turn over, towed it home then took it to mechanic the next day and said my LPOP was out and I needed a new one, so we replaced that and noticed the screen on my IPR valve was busted so we put a new screen kit and changed the oil and oil filter and ran it and it shut off again, took the oil filter off and noticed shaving on the oil filter????
I have a nice Post all typed up and then bumped a key
and it went POOF.
You have to go all the way into the engine to change that
lifter if it's one of the back ones and to remove the cam you
have to pull the engine and remove the crank and bed plate.
It's a major PITA and more or less a full rebuild.
Cam comes out the back and the branch tube blocks
some of the lifters in place. So it has to come out also.
Well after pulling out the LPOP and looking at it close up u can see the scar of a needle bearing getting crushed and pushed threw it, so I'm pretty much screwed, thank god for a back up 6.0 motor we will we be pulling motor dropping the pans and swapping the top of the motor cam, lifters push rods etc... Checking and confirming that's the problem which were 80% sure looking at the LPOP....
The mechanic should have drained the oil when the oil pump failed the first time and you wouldn't have had to waste money on a second front cover. A lot of experience tells me that you are probably in for an expensive repair. You lost a lifter and probably wiped out your cam shaft. You may want to check out our web site.
