Just changed the oil filter in my new 6.0 and thats one of the best Ideas Ford has come up with. I'm just wondering if a guy could clean that element and get atleast two cycles out of it. Maybe you could soak it in a solvent and use it for the next oil change. And by doing so you could cut the cost down to half. Just a thought

Spend 40k on new truck ... Awesome
Save 40 bucks by recycling the oil filter .....
Have it in the shop OUT of warranty because you blew up the motor by thinning out the oil with the solvent .... PRICELESS
Save money on the oil filter by either buying them online or talk to your dealer about a bulk discount. I haggled with my dealer's parts manager until I bought 15 filters. The final cost per filter was $21.38 and it isn't like they will go bad in my garage.
Coarse after cleaning the filter it would have to be completely dried out and would never leave the solvent in the filter dah ah bah. But after thinkin about it you are right why risk damage to a 40k truck? Hey wait a minute, I only paid 36k for mine
