On a standard the bottom right extension (lock Mechanism) is not there.
The 51 & 52 with the deluxe trim came with a drivers side door lock. Here is a picture of the mechanism. The standard models did not have the extension with the lock mechanism. I did add the lock to my drivers door but it involved cutting out that section of a bad deluxe door and welding it in my old door.

I hate to sound dumb (I know little or nothing about the 48-52 trucks) but couldn't you just cut a hole for the lock? Or is there something we don't see on the other side of the door skin?
There is a tube that the lock cylinder goes in to and is retained by a set screw. You can sort of see it in the top photo. I suppose you could fab something up but I already had this assembly in a door that wasn't good for anything else. I did get the mounts for the arm rest and door panel trim/retainers too!

I picked up the lock and intallation kit from Mid-fifty.com so both of my locks and ignition would be keyed alike a few weeks ago. But it took me a few more weeks to get up the nerve to drill the hole to install the Drivers side lock. I plan was to take alot of photos to make a good post. I took a few at first but once I got started I was too busy will the install and didn't take any more photos. After drilling the first hole and was able to shine a light thru the hole and saw I was lined up it realy relaxed me. I drilled a few holes and then just used a demel to slowly shape the hole and keep test fitting the lock. I really took my time but was able to get the lock installed in less than an hour. It works great.
48-52's are completely different than mid-fifties. I know of only one fabrication to electrify the early trucks' locks, while retaining inside handle function. Pretty complicated. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post12640609
