I might have to replace the leaf springs on my 1995 ranger XLT 4 cylinder Single cab. I think its a 7 foot bed. The code on the door is E4C. Which letter/number is for the rear, and what would spring code B be in relation to the one I have? Stiffer or softer?
Go to this site in for spring code info. On a 3 number code the first one is front springs, the second you ignore and the third is the rear code. So you have C rear springs.
During vehicle production/assembly, the front and rear springs are computer selected based on vehicle content/options, etc. Don't know if any of this will help you, but it might give you a lead to follow in picking new springs. Look for the Rear GAWR (gross axle weight rating) and divide my 2 to determine what capacity replacement springs would be appropriate.

Reason: more info
The leaf spring you currently have right now on the truck should be a 2/1 leaf spring rated at approximately 1,100 lbs PER side. That is a C code for the Ranger in that particular year.
The B code for the same set of years, (1993-2000) is the same spring that is used. Over the years the numbers most likely superseded but it is looking like the B code and C code for the Ranger are the same springs.
