I replaced egr cooler and a oil cooler on a 2006 f250 and after I finished I noticed a hissing noise coming from the right rear of the engine, I test drive and also noticed slow response on acceleration. Engine is smooth as silk and not misfiring. When I first start engine for the first 5 seconds hissing noise is not there then I start to hear. Also checked for codes and none present. Any ideas? I'm thinking a leak at one of the turbo flanges but not sure.
bad seal on your up pipes some were start with the egr cooler connection and turbo connection.
Did you have any problems getting any of the flanges to mate-up?
The other thing if you really pulled may be a Y-pipe crack.
With a string on a stick and a flashlight you can snoop around all
the connections and not get burned as it heats up to look for a leak.
Check around all the fittings. You may find
that one will be leaking.
When I put everything back on I had both of the
up-pipes loose at the exhaust manifold and installed
the turbo first but left the 3 bolts loose and went on
to the clamps. They slipped right into place without
yanking on them. after I got that all torqued I did the
3 turbo hold down blots and finished up with the up-pipes.
When I started I did not have any leaks.
BTW the shop workbook also says to do it this way.
The EGR one most likely will be ok so long as
you were not pulling with the clamp to get it into place.
And like I said find the leak first then you know how far
you may need to go.
