Hi all.... my name is Jeff Shiley. I hail (currently) from Macon, GA. I recently moved back to the South from Missoula, MT. I bought my current love, my '67 f100 shortbed while living in Tallahassee, FL....she was completely stock and had suffered from years of neglect and attempted repairs/jerry-rigging by her past owner who was NOT a mechanic. He ditched her, bent the bumper and ran over something that tore off the emerg. brake cables along with all the rear wiring. After rewiring her, completely rebuilding the frontend (all the way out to the kingpins and bushings), rebuilding the drum brakes on all 4 corners and giving her a much needed tune-up....I drover her 1800+ miles up to Montana without any real problems. She basicly sat for 2 1/2 years while I dealt with surgery and recovery/rehab. I then located and installed an Offenhauser dual-port alum. intake, Heddman headers and a Holley 390cfm 4bbl carb and looked into changing out the "hill climbing" rearend the was in her....I ended up swapping the rearend for one designed for the recent hi-output 302 Mustang....the limited slip was just the ticket for her peppier engine. Within days of finishing, I packed my stuff and drover her BACK across the country and only had to adjust my carb to my now lower altitude. I still have a lot of work to do the the old girl, but I'm looking forward to the work....and now I can't pick the brains of others blessed with love for beautifully reliable classic Ford trucks.
Yes.... I have done a bit of work, so far. I've got a bit more to do because of neglect and abuse by the previous owner.....as in - both bumpers, headliner, dash pad, headlight buckets and grill all need to be replaced. I also need to get rid of the sloppy aftermarket floor shifter and return her to the original "three on the tree".....Oh, I forgot to mention, she's also sporting a paint job of white latex house paint, applied with a paint roller. Yes, she's quite a project - but she's MY project and I wouldn't think of getting rid of her.
