Does anyone have problems with the auto-up feature on your windows? Mine seems to randomly stop working from time to time. Only the drivers side has the problem. When the truck was new the dealer re-programmed the computer and put a new window switch in. That worked for a while but the problem keeps coming back. I can easily do the re-programming sequence however the problem always comes back. I have a 2012 Lariat SCREW.
No problems on this one. On my wife's old 05 though, the window switch went bad and the same symptoms described presented themselves. OncE the switch was changed, all was well.
They replaced the switch on mine and it still does it too. better get it fixed before 36000 miles or you'll pay out of pocket. I'm going to get on them about this. It could happen at the wrong time.
Thanks, I'm out of warranty, the 36,000 mile mark has come and gone. I was hoping someone knew the fix already. Let me know if find anything. At least the re-program sequence is easy.
Only on the driver's side, I will be doing something with the switch, and it seems to do the opposite, totally random, like a ghost in the machine, You could never bother the dealer with it because you could never duplicate the issue!
This happens on occasion on my WK Grand Cherokee. The chrysler reprogramming method for these auto up windows is to open both windows all the way, manually close both (first detent, not auto up) and hold the switch at that first detent for 10-15 seconds after closure. It sometimes takes one or two attempts.
After that it works normally. Don't know what the Ford auto-up relearn procedure is but I am sure it is something similar. Might be worth a google.
The sequence is:
1. power the window down while pushing and holding the button all the way down.
2. power the window up while holding the switch all the way up till the window stops.
3. release the switch the pull all the way up & hold for 1 second.
Auto Up is now re-programmed. I do this in my sleep.
Work has a fleet of F150s, I do believe the oldest ones are 2011's and the newest ones 2014 and a few of the trucks have issues where the window will go down and not back up. Makes for a miserable ride come poor weather.
Mine has on a few occasions been a couple of taps to get the auto up to do its thing. Drivers window, passenger seems fine but I don't usually have passengers or use the passenger window.
Heard the dealer changes out the switch and tada it works, but we tried to swap switches on the road to just close the window and no dice. Mine wouldnt work in his and when i plugged his in to my truck nothing, but put mine back in my truck and all good. Thoughts?
