If you have window switches failing after a few months I would think that you might have other issues there besides the switch. The only thing normally wrong with the Ford switches is that the backlighting bulbs go out. Those switches get used and abused in our CVPI's and we almost never have to replace them.
Yes pal, you need to look at the whole issue. I've got two trucks with power windows, my 92 had over 214K miles and haven't had any problems with window switches...my 03 has 43K miles with no window switch problems.
I recommend you remove the door panel and look at the whole setup.

I did replace the window motor. I will take the panel off again and look closely at the wires. Any other suggestions?
Thanks
Does the window go up and down smoothly and fairly quickly? If not, as BPofMD said, if the window is binding somewhere, it could be putting extra load on the switch causing the failure. Normally there is a relay or breaker in the system to take the load and save the switch from damage. It could be possible that the new switch you got just happened to be N/G but the chances are slim. Like I said before and I have driven boat loads of Fords, between personal and work and these switches normally dont fail.
Hmmmm, was the replacement motor from a like model (same year)? I can't think that there would be much difference but the engineers have been know to change specs year to year.

Nope, same year. Took the first one home and it didn't match. NAPA called the techs and got the right one. It may indeed be something that is binding. It did seem a little sluggish even with the new motor. Guess I need to start taking things apart and take a closer look. It just seems odd that I can take a switch from my X and put it in my truck and the window will work.
