I wouldn't be condemning an 06 HPOP without proper air testing. STC,,, now that's a different story. I'd tear into the stc even if it was running fine. It only needs replaced once. Once it's updated,, it's done. Then stand pipes n dummy plugs. However,, you could have top injector oring leaks. If you want,, you can contact us and we can get the IPR air test fitting from robbinthahood. Or you can look him up and get one directly from him. He is on this forum. What happened at the "shop"? Can I ask what shop?
The shop did do an air test and that's how they determined where the leaks were at. They also told me that the hpop was slow to build up pressure

The only true way to test an HPOP is to do a bench test. With it in the truck, of course it's going to be slow to build pressure if the system is leaking. As has been said before, very seldom do the 05 and up HPOP's go bad.
Think of it this way....a water spigot is your HPOP, and the garden hose is your lines and STC/dummy plugs/standpipe connections, etc. Your hose may have holes/leaks....but your spigot is fine.
Primitive example, but best I can come up with....
I have had more HPO leak jobs come in lately. I explain it as a garden hose also. If you fix the biggest holes,, then that is when the little holes show themselves. There might be two injectors leaking very bad. But there's no way to see if the rest are good until the two main culprits are sealed up.
So my truck is now at another shop. The first one jerked me around. When it got to the new shop I got a call from the service manager and he said I need to get down there and take a look at my truck. The first shop meassed up my truck. Thy had the turbo hooked up wrong some kinda vac line not hooked up to anything a vac lime that goes to the turbo hooked up to the wrong spot. The broke the plastic piece that covers the turbo on the back of the engine compartment. My next question is do u have to remove the turbo inorder to to do an air test.
Is this a 6 liter?? No vacuum to the turbo on 6.0's.
Ok well the last shop failed to hook up two lines that look like vac lines. And my turbo was not building pressure when I left that shop to take it home to get it towed to another shop. Is removing the turbo needed to run a pressure test of the high oil pressure system? I talked to a few people I know and they said it was not need
The map hose could be what you are talking about. It has one hose. But negative,,, turbo does not need removed to air test. No matter if they IPR or ICP test.
The only real Vac lines are for the A/C and the 4X4
system and that is supplied by a vac pump.
It's possible that the heater valve line was put on
the wrong place after.
But still. They took the turbo off to do an air test? WTF.
I will be taking the shop to court for a refund of the 468$ inspection fee which they have refused to refund. The shop is adament that the turbo must come off to do an air test. I evenc called my loclocal dealer serservice dept and asked them and when I told the shop that the service dept at the dealership told me that the turbo does not come off he told me the the service dept at the dealership did not know what they are talking about. Pretty funny that the guys that fix these all day long don't know what they are talking about
Hey super duty was wondering if you had a factory service manual and if you could email me he section that describes the proper way to do an air test on the high pressure oil system so when I take this joker to court I have prof that he did not have the right knowledge to perform this test
Air test is not listed in the factory manuals.
They have you use a set of test plugs and watch
the ICP readings as you crank it. There are two
types. But what it comes down to is one has a place
where you can put the ICP sensor in the top and the
other one is a solid block so that you can also test
the branch tube,pump and IPR.
This is one type.

Would alldata pro have the info I am looking for? I just want to take in as much evidence that this shop did not know what they were doing and did unneeded work on my truck
