6.0 woes

I have a 2003 f350 KR drw and I had no 5 injector replaced and EGR cleaned..Left Friday pulling my 5th wheel and after a short truck started to bug and fart then clear up ,within a few miles started again and black smoke from tailpipe,made to campground65 miles away and truck was still putting out black smoke and running rough.Could not get fix in near by town although tech at for dealer said it sounds like EGR or where I had it cleaned soot and gunk clogged up the BPS sensor.He coild not help anyfurther.Today after trying to make it home , truck put out lots of smoke and rattling and jerking I pulled to side of road and it died,just a clunk sound when trying to start.paid to have it towed to dealer here in my home town..got my 5th wheel home as friend came and picked up...WHAT HAPPENED TO MY TRUCK???any thoughts ,HElp

I was thinking shrapnel from cleaning your EGR, but if you heard a clunk and it won't turn over... I'm thinking it's hydrolocked...

I unhooked Egr while waiting and truck did start but rough rough shut off right away does this mean its hydrolocked??

I thought you meant it wouldn't turn over after you heard the clunk noise... If it is turning over, it's not HL..

Cylinder would either be full of fuel or coolant...

Sounds like the injector failed or came loose and filled a cylinder full of fuel, hence the black smoke then hydrolock. Do NOT keep trying to turn the truck over without finding the offending cylinder (I'll bet #5) and relieving the fuel.

When I first tries to start after pulling over on side of hwy,it just clunk did not force issue,after it sat for a while 1hr plus or so I did try again after piulling egr connector be starting and it did start but shut it off fast

hah..I have seen cats run lol..truck work great although I was not towing 5th wheel..stated having problem after 20 miles or so pulling ..started bucking and what I call farting puffs smoke from tail pipe then stopped and started again and black smoke from tail pipe today was really pouring out the smoke..truck at dealers ,flatbedded there don't know what to do I can see some big bucks going out any more ideas?? from anyon thanks in advance

You could be talking chugging and black smoke which is caused by a multiple of things. What year and what mods does your truck have, can you read codes? That will point us in the right direction.

I just went through this with mine. After cleaning EGR, new gaskets, cleaning EBP and tube, MAF, MAP and running relearn it turns out my EGR valve had failed. Just put a new EGR in my truck and it's finally running properly. I had no codes, no other issues, just would blow black smoke, buck and chugged when trying to accelerate with trailer, or on cruise, it would do the same, if you put your foot to the floor, once it revved up and it would drop a gear and away it would go.

Sure hope this is the case and not a bad EGR cooler or hydro locking....
