I started up my truck this morning and it is smoking grey smoke. It was slow to start which is unsual for my truck. Always starts fine. The smoke gets real heavy if you get on it hard. Truck was running fine yesterday.
Any ideas??
The local dealer said that it would be tomorrow morning before the tech could look at it.
One other thing, I have been noticing slight puking from Degas bottle. Just a few drops each time I drive it. No overheating.
Service writer said that it mught be EGR. But will EGR cause it to crank slow? Never had EGR serviced or replaced. Mileage is 82,000 and truck has not given any problems and is and has always been stock.
Did you get an answer from your dealer yet? I'm having the same issue blue/gray smoke and long cranking times.
pulled the EGR and cleaned it last night but still the same smoke when I took it out for test drive.
No answer yet. Truck is still at the dealer. Probably will get looked at Monday. Service guy said that it was probably EGR cooler or headgaskets. I am kinda hoping for headgaskets since it has 82,000 miles and would like them replaced under warranty.
The dealer said that he would order ARP studs to put in if I paid for the them.
I'll keep ya'll posted.
I just heard from the dealer.
It was the EGR valve and EGR cooler. He said that the EGR valve probably got stuck open and all the heat melted the EGR cooler.
Does this sound right?
I asked about replacing the oil cooler and he said that it was OK.
