Option 1:
Keep current truck in sig. But the truck needs a set of injectors bad.
Add Stage 3 injectors and a S468 turbo kit, studs/springs/rods ~$6000
Sadly I'm not to sure about this transmission any more. If i could have waited I'd put a BTS trans in it this last time it tore up, but it was going to be a two month turn around at the time. So I'm sure if I go stage 3 injectors I'll end up having to put another Transmission in the truck. So tack on another ~$5000
Option 2:
Sale current truck and buy a newer low mileage 2000-2003
More comfortable ride, more options for the truck, lower mileage.
Then start over on mods: 4" lift on 35s, Intake, exhaust, chip, gauges, and the list goes on...... lets just say ~$10,000
Lets say that the sale of my truck and the cost of the new truck is the same, so thats a wash, and you have ~$10K to spend on parts. I don't really need stage 3 injectors on my truck now, but since i'm going to do an injector swap might as well get the most for my money.
Which option would you chose? Keep in mind I'm about to be doing some travel for work.
Like I said I don't really need the Stage 3, but go big or go home. And I have a feeling that anything more then i already have/ in the near future I'll be replacing the transmission anyways.
I had it rebuilt when I bought the truck, due to the wiring harness not being tied up, fell on the front drive shaft and it trashed the transmission. When I had it rebuilt I told the guy what I had plans on doing. Got it back and he told me it was bullet proof and I could do what I wanted and race it every day if I wanted too. 40K miles later and no real extra power added to the truck and the transmission blew up going down the road. Got the truck back and the transmission still wasn't right so back to the shop it went, and still doesn't feel totally right. So long story short I'm sure it wont last forever.
I hear ya, that kinda sucks.. I hate that feeling of impending tranny doom...
I think someone asked earlier; how's the body on your truck? Got a few pics?
Beautiful truck man! I pulled something unevenly off one side of my bumper once w my old crew cab; it made the body lines forever not line up..
IMHO, you've got a great truck they simply don't make anymore, you should b proud to own it. Keep it! One or the best trucks ever built!
PS, I'm always jealous when I see Ranch Hand bumpers, you simply can't find them used on the east coast like down south or out west...
