I was searching Google images looking for "1952 Ford F1 advertising". Up popped a photo of my 1956 Fairlane. I thought this odd and clicked on the image and was taken to a profile on FTE. Much of the info is from My profile but I have no idea where it came from. Any ideas?
Wife say's she's upset. First the author has the truck listed as mine, and then she asked who is this woman anyway. I don't think she beleives me when I tell her I have no Idea!
Anything you post on the internet can be copied and pasted on any other web site.
It is just part and parcel when something is posted. Revel in the fact that someone (or a bot) thought enough of your truck to take the time to copy and paste it. And also in the fact that you are still the owner of said truck, many times those who copy and paste to a new website claim ownership!
Nothing for wifey to be upset about, this stuff happens all the time!
David
And I might add that is a nice looking truck, you should be proud!
The article you mention came up as a featured article when I signed into FTE a few days ago. Accuracy? It is the internet. Always good taste? It is the internet.
This happens to me a lot on wheel and tire issues. I do Google image searches of Craig's List and find my pictures in WTB ads for wheels. There's enterprising guys out there that have gone to school.
I also sent a Letter to the Editor of Vintage Truck Magazine a few years ago challenging something they wrote in an article. With the letter I included some Budd wheel charts in support of my opinions. Later I found that VT had released the letter and charts to the guys at the Stovebolt.com Chevy web site for inclusion in their tech page on wheels. Anything you send a magazine becomes theirs to pass on as they see fit. I've considered doing a tech article for FTE but know that whatever I write, and whatever images I include, become the property of Internet Brands. Stu
At the bottom of that webpage are links to "privacy policy" and "terms of use" for Internet Brands, the company that owns the FTE website...it might behoove many of us to read these so that we are not surprised if we find more "repackaging" of the info on our posts.
Doc found a similar but more blatant incident happen to him a few years back. He found a video of a rat rod truck from a TV show or magazine, I don't remember which, that showed the build of the rat rod truck which started out with a picture of Doc's yard art F-5, now that's wrong.

And, I must say, rather funny too. Was he in the bed on a stripper pole wearing SpongeBob pajamas?
Tee-hee
Forum inside jokes. Nothing to see here, folks. Move along.
Clearly pulled details (your name etc) from your Profile... One could have some fun there, I'd guess. I'm sure the Terms allow for this, but it sure seems cheesy to produce that without a word to you first, or a chance to review it, or nix it.
I really don't mind. All the info is public anyway. Both the wife and I are very aware of what is on the net, she worked on Norther Arizona Universities net presence till she retired last week. Just thought it unusual that it was put up by FTE and I just happened to come across it. Much of the info is from my profile but some has to be from posts.
Yes the OUTSIDE and INTERIOR of the truck is going to be kept/returned to close to original but... Underneath the truck will be modern.
