Cool Tool - Parker SensoNODE
That's it.
No wires.
No fancy/expensive display hardware.
The readout is displayed on any iOS device in close proximity - with a free app.
Before you grab for your wallet - while I haven't yet found a price, I'm betting this is a Buck$Zooka round. More caveats:
The pressure limit on what I am sure will be the "most reasonably" priced units will be 150 PSI for pressure and 185 degrees F for fluid temperatures. The sensor can't withstand ambient temps that high, the limit there is 167 degrees F.
To conserve energy on that little watch battery, it transmits every 5 seconds - so it won't detect rapid fluctuations in anything.
I don't yet know how sensitive it is to the environment under the hood.
While this has the potential to be a cool troubleshooting tool, it's not for long term on our trucks - nor is it viable for certain situations: Like a temporary LPO sensor - the oil gets too hot.
The main thing here is it's getting closer to a practical troubleshooting tool for us PMSers. There may be a viable product out there already, and I just haven't found it yet.
