What is ideal engine RPM while cranking to get the motor started? While cranking I won't get over 200 RPM. The engine sputters and puffs smoke but fails to light. Absolutely everything else required for a start has been attained ie: ICP pressure 800+pis ICPv .28 IPR% 49 FICM sync yes, CKP/CAM sync yes, Exhaust back pressure is good. FICM V12 L12 M48 (from dieseltechron)
Injectors/PCM passes all test KOEO no faults whats DTC what so ever. Batteries are good and alternator is brand new. Batts put on trickle charge over night.
I have used all the awesome info from this forum to eliminate all the usual suspects and have read that the engine RPM need to be around 250. I may get 160-180 RPM and the starter is OEM not reman.
What do you all think.
Take the tension off the belt and see if you can turn the A/C compressor
by hand. If you can't then take the bolt out of the center of the A/C
compressor clutch and see if you can spin the pulley. It you can then
re-apply the tension to the belt and try starting it. You can run that
way if needed.
I had a truck like this the other day. Was working on it for a buddy. Truck wouldn't crank or anything. Starter was bad. Put a new starter in. It would crank and everything needed to start was achieved but it wouldn't start. I told the owner and he was like yeah it does that, hit it with some ether. I tried explaining to him it was a bad idea and waited till he arrived and let him do it. It fired right up. He says his truck will not start after sitting for a while, like weeks at a time, with out ether. I would not advised this at all. Just sharing my experience. I would think it would have to be something fuel related.
You and me both. I will be looking for a twisted fuel line tomorrow. Even though fuel comes out of the banjo when disconnected from the block it may still be restricted by some blockage
